Though magic users are relatively common throughout the lands, few can muster the power enough for effective combat. The mental discipline required to stay attuned to the Source is too much fatigue on the mind for most. The ones who can maintain that focus constantly as a second nature while maintaining freedom to think elsewhere can be taught to cast powerful spells. Elemental magic is perhaps the most common and quite effective in combat. Some choose other paths such as summoning magic or healing. Those that achieve mastery of multiple schools are rare and granted high respect within the Glyss ranks.
